NYC Summer Mahler Project 2012

If you’re in NYC Thursday, July 13, 2012, please stop by St. Bartholomew’s Church (325 Park Ave/51st St), for an evening of Mahler’s 5th Symphony.

This is the third year that director James Blachly is presenting a Mahler symphony to raise funds for the Youth Orchestra of the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans, which is inspired by the El Sistema program of Venezuela.

All the musicians volunteer their time and their enthusiasm and hopefully music lovers will help fund this growing program through their donations.

Last year I was happy to play Mahler 1 at Trinity Wall St and was thrilled to be asked back to play Maher 5 at St. Bart’s.

If you’re unable to attend the concert, you can make a direct donation at the Sheep Island Ensemble website as well as learn about other projects James is involved with.
